IV Support for Cycling Events and Teams on the Monterey Peninsula

Cycling is the one event category where the first conversation is not about logistics, it is about whether a rider is even allowed to receive an infusion. The World Anti-Doping Code restricts IV infusions above a small volume, and every drip we offer is well above it. That does not make a cycling booking impossible; it makes it a booking that has to be scoped properly. Vivere Drip Therapy works with gran fondo organizers, teams and support crews across the Peninsula, from the Carmel Valley Road and Laureles Grade routes to race weekends at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Licensed physician assistants deliver every service, and we will tell you plainly which of your people we can serve and which need to go through their federation first.

Anti-Doping Rules Decide Who Can Be Treated

The WADA Prohibited List restricts intravenous infusions and injections of more than 100 mL in any 12-hour period, outside legitimate hospital treatment, surgical procedures or clinical diagnostic investigations. Our smallest drip is 500 ml and most are 1000 ml, so a licensed racer inside a testing pool should not accept one from us without a Therapeutic Use Exemption — and obtaining that is a matter between the athlete, their physician and their anti-doping organization, not something a clinic can grant. This lands differently across a start list. A UCI-sanctioned or USA Cycling licensed racer at an event like the Sea Otter Classic is subject to the Code. A recreational gran fondo rider holding no license and sitting in no testing pool generally is not. We do not make that determination for anyone. We ask, we document the answer, and we point licensed athletes back to their federation. Any organizer who has been told otherwise by another provider should treat that as a reason to ask harder questions.

Support Staff Are Usually the Real Booking

The people who most need hydration at a bike race are rarely the ones on the bikes. Mechanics are working from six in the morning in a parking lot. Soigneurs, drivers, feed-zone volunteers, moto crew and the neutral support team are outside all day, often across two or three consecutive days, and none of them are in a testing pool. They are also the people whose collapse ruins your weekend. Staff bookings are simple. The Basic Boost, 1000 ml over 40 minutes at $160, or Myer's Cocktail at 35 minutes and $175 to $195, works for anyone who can sit down for half an hour. For crew who cannot, a Methylcobalamin B-12 Energy Boost is 10 minutes at $35 and runs through a rotation between jobs. Tell us your crew size and your quietest half-hour and we will schedule around the work rather than interrupting it.

Where We Set Up on a Gran Fondo Weekend

Three locations come up repeatedly and each carries a different constraint. The team or event hotel is easiest: a suite or a meeting room, real power, real bathrooms, and riders who can walk there in sandals. A venue parking lot next to the team truck works, and is often what a Laguna Seca weekend demands, but it needs shade, level ground and somewhere out of the wind coming off the ridge. A private house rented for the weekend in Carmel Valley is the most comfortable of the three, and the one where you should confirm the host is happy with a clinical setup in their living room. What we cannot do is set up in a feed zone or on the course. Roadside on Carmel Valley Road or partway up the Laureles Grade is not a place to run an infusion. Bring us your event map at quote and we will pick the site with you.

Scheduling Across an Event Weekend

A single-day booking rarely fits a bike race. Most weekends break into three moments. The day before, when riders and staff arrive dehydrated from a drive or a flight and the crew is still building. The evening after a long stage or fondo route, when everyone is back and there is a two-hour window before dinner. And the morning after, when the drive home is what people are dreading. The middle one is the hardest to staff and the most useful, because it competes with mechanics washing bikes and a dinner reservation. Fix that window early and hold it. We schedule per person with staggered start times so nobody stands in a hallway waiting, and a 1000 ml drip occupies its guest for about 40 minutes plus intake. Multi-day bookings are quoted as a block rather than as separate visits, which is generally better value than three one-off callouts.

Pricing, Billing and the Travel Fee

Teams usually go host-paid for staff and let riders settle their own. That split is easy for us: one invoice for the crew block, individual payment for anyone else, agreed before we arrive so there is no card conversation in a hotel corridor. Some organizers instead offer it as an add-on their participants book directly, which puts zero cost on the event. Everything is self-pay. No insurance is billed, so there is nothing to submit and nothing for a team manager to reconcile. For any off-site visit a travel fee applies on top of treatment pricing and is confirmed when we quote your weekend. Deposit terms, the minimum booking size, staffing hours and how many people we can serve in a given window are all set at quote. Send us dates, headcount and location and we will put real numbers against it. Call (831) 253-9537 or start at /book.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can our licensed racers get an IV drip during event weekend?

Not from us as a routine service. Every drip we offer exceeds the 100 mL per 12 hours that the WADA Prohibited List permits outside hospital treatment, surgery or clinical diagnostic investigation, so a racer in a testing pool would need a Therapeutic Use Exemption obtained through their own anti-doping organization. We are not that authority and will not advise around it. Riders should ask their federation before the weekend, not after.
