How Does Mobile IV Therapy Work? A Step-by-Step Guide
Mobile IV therapy is simpler than most people expect. A licensed physician assistant comes to your location, conducts a brief health assessment, places an IV catheter in your arm, and administers your chosen IV formula over 45 to 60 minutes. You relax the entire time. At Vivere Drip Therapy, we have performed hundreds of mobile visits across Monterey County — and our clients consistently describe the experience as easier, more comfortable, and more effective than they anticipated. Here's exactly what happens from the moment you book to the moment we leave.
Booking and Preparation
Start by selecting your IV drip from our menu at viverehealthandwellness.com, then choose a date, time, and enter your address. You will receive a booking confirmation with details about what to expect. On the day of your appointment, there is little you need to do to prepare: drink some water, eat a light meal if possible, and find a comfortable place to sit or recline for about an hour. You do not need to set up anything special — we bring everything we need. If you have any medical conditions or questions, you are welcome to call us beforehand and speak with a physician assistant.
The Appointment: Intake to Infusion
Your physician assistant arrives within the agreed window, introduces themselves, and completes a brief health intake. This includes questions about your current symptoms, medications, allergies, and wellness goals. This intake typically takes five to ten minutes and allows us to confirm or adjust the drip formula to best meet your needs. Once intake is complete and you are settled comfortably, the physician assistant places a small IV catheter — usually in the forearm or hand — and connects the infusion. The drip runs over 45 to 60 minutes. You can read, work on a laptop, watch TV, or simply rest during this time.
After Your Session
When the infusion is complete, your physician assistant removes the catheter and applies a small bandage. They will check in with you about how you feel and offer any aftercare recommendations — typically just to stay hydrated and rest if needed. All supplies are packed up and taken with our team; you are left with nothing to deal with. Most clients notice the effects of IV therapy quickly, sometimes within minutes. Energy, hydration, mental clarity, and reduced symptoms often improve before the appointment even ends. There is no downtime required, and most clients return to normal activity immediately.
Frequently Asked Questions
Common Questions
Does IV therapy hurt?
The IV catheter placement involves a brief, small pinch — similar to a blood draw. Once the catheter is in place, most clients feel no discomfort during the infusion itself. Our physician assistants are experienced at making IV placement as comfortable as possible.
How long does a mobile IV visit take from start to finish?
From the moment your physician assistant arrives to the time they leave, expect the full visit to take about 60 to 75 minutes. The infusion itself is 45 to 60 minutes, with the intake and setup taking approximately 10 minutes.
